10 Worst Mistakes You Can Make To Not Make your “Career Change From Home Work”

What does that mean?

It means:

That people are dilerious and need some answers. T

That people need to make a change but don’t exactly know how to express it.

That if you found this page you are definetly looking for something and I hope you found it.

It wasn’t to long ago that I was needing a change. I was:

Falling behind on my bills.

Hating my job!

Hating my commute!

Hating the fact that I was working my backside off but still ending up broke all the time.

Then as they say

“I got SICK AND TIRE OF BEING SICK AND TIRED.”

So I did something about it and I would like to help you do the same.

My name is Orlando Ramos. A few years back I was in a job that I couldn’t stand and decided to make a serious change. I was tired of taking it from my bosses and being at the mercy of the company. Let me say that I had a “nice” job. I have a degree in accounting and had what people would consider a cushy job. Nonetheless, everyday, my co-workers and I would go to work and wonder if our job would be there. It got so bad that I actually began wishing to get fired. I would do things against company policy like play on the internet and talk on the phone just to catch their attention but it never worked. No matter what I did they refused to let me go. One day it dawned on me that I was on a path of destruction. So I took the leap. I made the decision to quit my job and start my own business. A huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I was smiling again, the birds were singing and the flowers were in bloom. It was exilerating.

Fast forward to today. I wish I could say that the rest is history. Unfortunately, I made a ton of horrible and dumb mistakes. These mistakes were costly and I would beat myself up about them relentlessly. I went from hearing the birds sing to hearing the phone ring because the bill collectors were calling every five minutes. I am still paying for mistakes that I made over two years ago. It has been pretty rough and I couldn’t figure out what went wrong. How could I have screw this up so bad? Not just for me but for my wife and two young kids. That’s right, I made the decision to go out on my own with a wife, kids, car payments and a mortgage. Needless to say, the enthusiasm I felt on my last day on the job was gone. I couldn’t figure out why this was happening to me.

I recently figured out the reason I went through all of that was so that I could help others avoid those costly mistakes. You see, I figured out that my mission in life was to make this world a better place by spreading happiness. Pollyanna? Perhaps? But what is your mission what is your purpose? If you don’t know than that is part of the problem. Below you will see a list of the worst mistakes that you can make and how to avoid them. My aim is that you will learn from this list, make a Career Change From Home Work and create a life that will make you happy. If anything if this post inspires you and leads to you living a more happy life than I have fullfilled my mission and know that you will too.

10 Worst Mistakes You Can Make To Not Make your “Career Change From Home Work”

1. Starting without a plan. You see I had an idea that I would start a business providing accounting services and thought that would be enough. NO PLAN = RETURN TO WORK.

2. Assume that people will help you. I thought that as soon as all my friends and relatives knew what I was doing that I would be up to my neck in work. WRONG! The only one that you can count on is you. You need to ask for help but never assume it will just appear.

3. Pretend you are working. When you are fixing the toilet or mowing the lawn you are not working. I tended to feel so worn out everyday because I was doing busy work and not focusing on my business. This blog is “Career Change From Home Work” not “Career Change From Home Remodel the House” unless your business is remodeling houses. Just kidding.

4. Beat yourself up for making mistakes. Brian Tracy says that at least 70% of the decisions we make are wrong. The good news is that in baseball if you hit .300 you are a Hall of Famer. If you congratulate yourself on the 30% of the decisions you make correctly you will be much happier and are likely to improve your average.

5. Spend all of your seed money. For some reason when I began working from home my spending went way up. Some of it was business related but most of it was because of #3 above. Make a budget with your family and stick to it.

6. Spend the majority of your time working in your business not on your business. This is probably the #1 killer of small businesses everywhere. I would spend more time on my computer doing my bookkeeping and researching information that I would not work on building my business. Research information for your own use does not pay you; finding clients and providing them great service that is what makes you money.

7. Charge to little for your services. This is a total self-esteem issue. If you don’t feel as though you can charge full price for your services that don’t go into business. Charging a client to small an amount would make me resentfull towards the client. I would spend hours and hours working for them and when they would pay me I would be bitter. Find out what the marktet will bear and charge as much as possible.

8. Assume that hanging a sign in your front yard will bring you customers. I was foolish enough to believe that once I opened my doors that clients would flock to me. NO WAY! You need to market like crazy. Then when you feel that you have done enough marketing then do some more because it wasn’t enough.

9. Spend time frivolously. I would think that because I didn’t have to report to anybody that I could do whatever I wanted to whenever I wanted to. You need to plan your time as though you are on the job. If your job made you be at work at 8am you wouldn’t dare be late so create the hapit of keeping to schedule early.

10. Not have fun. I made the mistake of treating my business like a job. I would sit at my desk or drive to client in a very serious manner. Take you business seriously but don’t take yourself seriously. Have fun while you work. The reason you wanted to go on your own was to be happy so be happy.

Now that you have seen everything that doesn’t work go to http://www.howtoraiseyourownsalary.com/careerchangefromhomework/ and see what does work.
